ABOUT DJ SMART
DJ Smart has been described as one of the most versatile and gifted dancers of his generation, and possibly one of the most brilliant artists in the world. He has rapidly become a highly recognized performer, choreographer, and teacher in all facets of the industry. Hailing from Detroit, he began dancing at the age of 12 and graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. As a graduate with honors, earning a BFA in ballet performance, he was awarded the “Outstanding in All Styles Award” and the prestigious “Stella Moore Prize.” He has also received awards such as Got Dance LA Spotlight recipient, Edge Magazine’s Person of the Week, “Emerging Artist Award” from Opera Noir, 2006 National ACT-SO dance gold medalist, and 2007 National YoungArts winner in jazz dance. He was also named one of 12 “Hottest Dance Convention Teachers Right Now” by Dance Informa Magazine.
